Iguazu

So this post will be for explaining my weekend in Iguazu, and then I will post other posts with all the pictures of everything.

First we had a 15 hour bus ride to Misiones, which is in the north east of Argentina, right by Brazil and Paraguay. When we woke up from that, we visited the ruins of San Ignacio, which was an old mission. There were ruins of the church and houses and everything, it was pretty cool. After that, we went to an Estancia (farm) that grew black tea and mate. We saw a mate processing factory, which was interesting. We also spent time chilling at the Estancia and had more asado/barbeque. There was a pool there, and room for playing volley ball or frisbee, and lovely hammocks and lounge chairs for taking a siesta (since they do that in Misiones, because they´re normal South Americans.)

After that, we took another four hours and arrived in Puerto Iguazu, the northernmost city in Argentina. We got to our 4 star hotel, which was very snazzy and had a pool and a buffet dinner. Then we slept.

The next morning, we went to the national park! That was absolutely fantastic. We stayed on the Argentinian side, even though I really wanted to go to the Brazilian side since I had my visa. Either way, the view and the falls were fantastic. You´ll see lots of pictures when I get around to uploading them.

After that we went to this place where you can see the three countries (Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay) separated by the Iguazu River and the ParanĂ¡. It was really sweet because the Iguazu has brownish chocolate colored water, and the ParanĂ¡ is clear, and you could actually see where the color of the water changes.

The next day we went and visited a GuaranĂ village (they´re the indigenous people of that region). We saw some cool stuff like traps and a few medicinal plants, and then some children sang a few songs for us. I bought souveneirs there. After that, we were supposed to leave at 1:30 to go to the airport, but stupid ash from that stupid volcano in stupid Chile came back, so the airport closed. We couldn´t leave until about 7:30 that night, so I spent about six hours in the pool of the hotel because it was too hot to not be in the water. Actually, it wasn´t that bad, and could have been hotter, but we weren´t in the shade of the rainforest (which cooled us down in the national park) and the sun was intense. I didn´t get sunburned this time though like I did in Rosario!

At 7:30 we took ANOTHER omnibus back to Buenos Aires. I should explain: the 2 story buses have seats that lean back and convert into sort of beds, but it was still rather uncomfortable, and the food was lame. But, on the way back, we had a little disco/rave going on in our part of the bus, and apparently the people above us told us to shut up because they were trying to sleep. xD

That´s the exciting time I had in Iguazu. I took tons of pictures, and I can´t wait to go to Brazil. :D
