I went to the zoo in Plaza Italia today. It was a fun three hours, I took tons of pictures, had to delete about 1/2 of them (curse glare! And fishes, who told them they could move around and swim and stuff?!?)
And, um yeah. I wasn´t super impressed by it, but it had all the "required" animals from Africa, and all that. And I only saw one animal that looked REALLY unhappy. Most of them were just lazy and enjoying the warm day.

A duck. |
This is a recurring theme |
statue. |
Pretty sure that about 99.8% of all the ducks that live in Argentina live in this zoo. |
flamingos (or is it flamingoes?) are hard to take good long distance pictures of. |
No yo-yos, sadly |
I don´t know what these are, but they were really loud. |
Aside from the ducks, and obviously the pidgeons and other natural birds, there were 3 mammals that were wandering around living in the zoo: this guy, that I don´t know what it is but I think it´s the equivalent of a rabbit; the nutria, which is the water rat with the tail (and my favorite of the 3), and the capybara, which is the largest rodent in the world. |
peacock head |
This was in the reptile house. |
albino |
I can´t take good pictures :( |
curse the glare! |
close up |
its red because of the heat lamps |
these guys are huge! And eat fruit. |
d´aww |
birth of a reticulated python. This was a cool display. Sorry for my reflection in some of them. |
awesome turtles |
lol, light refraction. I didn´t even realize I did this |
not sure what type of big lizard this is. I think a Monitor lizard, not 100% sure though. a lot of the exhibits weren´t labelled. :( |
black bear! |
this is all we saw of the grizzly bear. Also, they were cleaning the polar bear exhibit, so they weren´t in there. |
THIS is a capybara. |
this is the face of a nutria. These guys were super tame, and would walk up to people. Also, at this zoo, they let visitors feed the animals (like the deer and stuff). |
capybara |
nutria, reminds me of my gerbils. Only bigger, and wet. |
capybara |
this guy again |
totally just saw that there´s a hammer in there. xD |
black swan! |
awesome elephant house |
isn´t this a neat shot? |
no, it´s not, this guy was just posing there for like three minutes. |
this was my favorite bird in this cage. Y HALLO THAR |
Imma stand on one leg. So upset that this didn´t have a sign, so I have no idea what it is. It´s awesome, though, and gorgeous. |
AWWWW, so cute! |
A duck. |
burrowing owl! Sorry these pictures suck, but tiny animal + chain link fence = no good pics |
MEERCATS! |
These guys would not hold still, I had to delete like twenty pictures of meerkat asses or meerkat blurs. |
d´awww |
This is the unhappy animal, I think. It was pacing in one spot of its cage for a while. But, then it went elsewhere in the cage, so maybe it was just bored. I don´t know what kind of animal it is. |
The bird that lives with it, that is a huge pain to take a picture of |
This nutria decided that it wanted to sniff around my pants and at my camera. |
It had just gotten out of the water. |
oh look at this exotic species. -_-; Stupid cackling Canadian geese |
possibly my favorite picture. The same little nutria that came up to me, then went over to this group of people. It´s all, "hi guys! So, what are we doing? Can I come with? Am I cool?" |
in the water (the water isn´t that sort of brownish yellowish, but I had my camera on the wrong setting) |
More to come. I took over 800 pictures, and about 450 of them are decent.
